One-Time Terminal Benefit Increase for Contractual Workers

The West Bengal Government has announced an increase in the one-time terminal benefit for various categories of contractual and daily-rated workers upon reaching the age of 60 or 65. Effective from April 1, 2024, the benefit amount will be raised to Rs. 5.00 lakh, up from the previous amounts of Rs. 2.00 lakh for casual workers and Rs. 3.00 lakh for contractual workers.

• Casual/Daily Rated/Contractual Workers (Finance Department Order No. 9008-F(P) dated 16.09.2011)
• IT Personnel (P & AR Department Order No. 192-IT/06/2020/P&AR-e-Gov dated 16.10.2020)
• Para Teachers
• SSK and MSK Teachers
• ASHA Workers
• Honorary Health Workers
• Anganwadi Workers and Helpers
• Civic Volunteers
• Village Police Volunteers
• Home Guard Volunteers
• Auxiliary Fire Operators
• Other Categories (not exhaustive)

Benefit Details:

The one-time terminal benefit will be provided to eligible contractual personnel upon reaching the age of 60 or 65. The benefit amount has been increased to Rs. 5.00 lakh for all categories starting April 1, 2024. This decision has been approved by the Governor.

Sanction Process:

• The Head of the Department will handle the sanctioning of the benefit.
• Eligibility verification of the contractual employees is required.
• No further reference to the Finance Department is needed for sanctioning.
