Public Holiday on 10th July 2024

On 10th July 2024 (Wednesday), a public holiday has been declared in the following Assembly Constituencies due to bye-elections, in accordance with section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881:

  • 35-Raiganj
  • 90-Ranaghat Dakshin (SC)
  • 94-Bagda (SC)
  • 167-Maniktala

As a result, government offices, organizations, corporations, boards, statutory and local bodies, and educational institutions in these constituencies will be closed.

Paid Holiday for Workers

The Labour Department has mandated that 10th July 2024 be a paid holiday for workers in shops, commercial and industrial establishments, including tea gardens, within these constituencies to facilitate their participation in voting.

Workers Outside the Constituency

Electors registered in the above constituencies but working elsewhere are also entitled to a paid holiday under section 135B(1) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, to ensure they can vote.

Re-Poll Provision

In case a re-poll is required, employees and workers will be granted the same voting accommodations on the re-poll date.

Special Leave for Polling Personnel

Polling personnel who are delayed in returning from Reception Centres (RC) on 10th July 2024 may be granted special leave on 11th July 2024 (Thursday) if needed.

Please note that local holiday provisions may apply to specific polling stations.
