Kisan Credit Card Explained: Benefits, Eligibility, Application Process for SBI

Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme was introduced in 1998 for issue of Kisan Credit Cards to farmers on the basis of their holdings for uniform adoption by the banks so that farmers may use them to readily purchase agriculture inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, pesticides etc. and draw cash for their production needs. The scheme is implemented by Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India in association with NABARD ( National Bank for Agriculture and rural Development) and MANAGE.

  • To meet the short term credit requirements for cultivation of crops by farmers
  • Post-harvest expenses.
  • Produce marketing loan.
  • Consumption requirements of farmer household.
  • Working capital for maintenance of farm assets and activities allied to agriculture.
  • Investment credit requirement for agriculture and allied activities.

Kisan Credit Card Eligibility:

  • Farmers – individual/joint borrowers who are owner cultivators.
  • Tenant farmers, oral lessees & share croppers.
  • Self Help Groups (SHGs) or Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) of farmers including tenant farmers, share croppers etc

Required Documents For KCC Application:

  • Application Form.
  • Two Passport Size Photographs.
  • ID proof such as Driving License / Aadhar Card / Voter Identity Card / Passport.
  • Address Proof such as Driving License, Aadhar Card.
  • Proof of landholding duly certified by the revenue authorities.
  • Cropping pattern (Crops grown) with acreage.
  • Security documents for loan limit above Rs.1.60 lakhs / Rs.3.00 lakhs, as applicable.
  • Any other document as per sanction.

How To Apply For Kisan Credit Card (KCC):

There is two methods for applying – 1) Online Method, 2) Offline Process

Kisan Credit Card Online Application process

  1. Visit the website of the bank you wish to apply for the kisan credit card scheme.
  2. From the list of options, choose the Kisan Credit Card.
  3. On clicking the option of ‘Apply’, the website will redirect you to the application page.
  4. Fill the form with the required details and click on ‘Submit’.
  5. An application reference number will be sent.
  6. If you are eligible, the bank will get back to you for the further process within 3-4 working days.

Kisan Credit Card Offline Application Process

  1. Offline applications can be done by visiting the branch of the bank of your choice or by downloading the application form from the website of the bank as well. ( KCC Application Form by SBI)
  2. The applicant can visit the branch and begin the application process with the help of the bank representative

KCC Interest rate & Processing Fees:

The following interest rate and processing fees are as per SBI. This could change time to time.

Interest Rate

  • Up to Rs. 3.00 lakhs- 7% p.a. subject to GoI providing interest subvention. For interest subvention, submission of Aadhar details to Bank is mandatory (wherever applicable).
  • Above Rs.3.00 lakhs- as applicable from time to time

Processing Fee

  • KCC Limits up to Rs.3.00 lakhs: NIL
  • Limits more than Rs.3.00 lakhs: 0.35% of loan limit + GS

SBI KCC Application Process

  1. Download the KCC application form from SBI’s official site or else you can get it from any branch of SBI.
  2. Fill the details i.e. name, account no. address etc and submit the application form at SBI branch.
  3. After verification by SBI, bank will review the review the application, verify applicant’s details and sanction the card.

KCC Review Process By SBI Yono

  1. Download the SBI Yono app.
  2. Log in to YONO SBI.
  3. Click on YONO Krishi.
  4. Click on Khata.
  5. Click on Kisan Credit Card.
  6. Confirm personal details, Confirm land details etc.
  7. Confirm crop details
  8. Submit the application

How to Withdraw Money From KCC Card:

The following withdraw methods can be used by farmers for transactions.

  •  Withdrawal through ATMs / Micro ATM.
  • Withdrawal through BCs using smart cards.
  • PoS machine through input dealers.
  • Mobile Banking with IMPS capabilities / IVR.
  • Aadhaar enabled Cards.
