The EWS certificate application process has been made online. Earlier, the application process was offline and time-consuming. This recent development by the West Bengal Government has had a positive impact on candidates who are willing to obtain an EWS certificate.
So, there is two type of EWS Certificate-
i. State EWS Certificate (Annexure C)
ii. Central EWS Certificate (Annexure D)
First, You need to acquire State EWS then you can apply for Central EWS Certificate with State EWS Certificate number. So, let’s look into the overall process of EWS Certificate online application

How To Apply For EWS Certificate In West Bengal
This step by step guide has been divided into four parts, or four pages, similar to the application process. Each part contains sub-parts for better understanding. Go through this process to know all details about EWS Certificate application.
Step 1- Fill Personal Information
- Visit– castcertificatewb.gov.in (this link will take you directly to the EWS application page)
- If You are applying for first time Choose “State” (because you will need state EWS application no. in order to apply for central EWS)
- Select Your Jurisdiction (Choose the relevant options from the dropdown lists)
- District
- Sub-Division
- Municipality or
- Block GP (Gram Panchayat) or Ward
- Select Category and Caste
- For general -Select your caste from the dropdown list
- For OBC- Select your caste and sub-caste from the dropdown lists
- Enter Personal Information
- Name
- Father’s name
- mobile number
- Required Documents (Atleast One is required)
- Aadhar Card No. or
- Khadya Sathi Card details
- Birth Place Details
- Date of birth and birth place details

Step 2- Fill Address Details
Present Address:
- C/O (name): [Enter name]
- Ward/GP: [Enter ward or GP]
- Vill/Para/House No/Road: [Enter village, para, house number, or road name]

- Pin Code: [Enter pin code]
- Police Station: [Select police station from dropdown]
Permanent Address:
- Same as Present Address: [Yes/No] If “No,” please fill in the following details:

Step 3 -Applicant Details
- Nationality: Nationality will be automatically updated as Indian.
- Religion: Select religion from the dropdown (ex- Hindu, Muslim etc.)
- Gender: Select gender(Male, Female, others) from the dropdown menu.
- Details of two(2) local referees:
- Enter the name of Referee-I
- Enter the address of Referee-I
- Enter the name of Referee-II
- Enter the address of Referee-II
- Whether migrated from other State/Country?
- If selected NO – Don’t need to fill anything.
- If selected YES: enter the following details
- Domicile status in West Bengal (in years)
- Enter Country Name
- Enter State
- District
- Police Station
- Village/Ward
- Enter Year of Migration

Step 4 -Last Step
- Photo Upload: Upload your photograph (Size within 100kb in *.jpg format).
- Income Tax Return: Click on yes or no.
Income and Asset Details:
- Select income and assets from the dropdown. You can select more than one as per your requirements. If selected:
- INCOME IN PREVIOUS F.Y(Rupees):
- Enter PAN Number
- Enter salary amount
- Income from business: [Enter amount]
- Income from Agriculture: [Enter amount]
- Income from Profession: [Enter amount]
- Other sources of income (if any): [Enter amount] Details for Yourself, Father, Mother, Spouse, Siblings (you can add more than one), children (you can add more than one).
Agricultural Land (Acres)
- Enter Area (in Acres)
- Location of the land owned by: [Enter owner details] Details for Yourself, Father, Mother, Spouse, Siblings (you can add more than one), children (you can add more than one).
Residential Flat (Sq.ft)
- Enter Area (in Sq.ft)
- Location of the flat owned by: [Enter owner details] Details for Yourself, Father, Mother, Spouse, Siblings (you can add more than one), children (you can add more than one).
Residential Plot In Municipality (Sq.Yards)
- Enter Area (in Sq.Yards): [Enter area in sq.yards]
- Location of the plot owned by: [Enter owner details] Details for Yourself, Father, Mother, Spouse, Siblings (you can add more than one), children (you can add more than one).
Documents to be submitted
- Select all the documents you want to submit.
Then click on Submit button and download the autogenerated Application form, Acknowledgement, income and assets.
