This change to an online process is a significant improvement for those seeking to obtain an EWS certificate in West Bengal.

Types of EWS Certificates:

  1. State EWS Certificate (Annexure C)
  2. Central EWS Certificate (Annexure D)
To apply for the Central EWS Certificate, you must first obtain the State EWS Certificate, which will provide you with a necessary application number.

How to Apply for an EWS Certificate in West Bengal

This guide is divided into four parts, presenting the application process. Follow each step carefully to successfully complete your EWS application.

Step 1: Fill Personal Information

  1. Visit castcertificatewb.gov.in to access the EWS application page.
  2. Select “State” as your application type, since you will need the State EWS application number for the Central EWS Certificate.
  3. Choose your jurisdiction from the dropdown lists (District, Sub-Division, Municipality/Block GP/Ward).
  4. Enter your personal information, including:
  • Name
  • Father’s Name
  • Mobile Number
  • Email Address

5. Provide required documents (Aadhar Card or Khadya Sathi Card).
6. Fill in your birth details (date and place of birth).

Step 2: Fill Address Details

Present Address:

  • Enter details such as C/O (name), Ward/GP, Village/House No./Road, Post Office, Pin Code, and Police Station.

Permanent Address:

  • If different from the present address, fill in the details similarly.

Step 3: Applicant Details

  1. Nationality: Automatically updated as Indian.
  2. Religion: Select from dropdown options.
  3. Gender: Choose from the dropdown menu.
  4. Provide details of two local referees, including names and addresses.
  5. If migrated from another state/country, provide details of domicile status in West Bengal.

Step 4: Upload Documents & Submit Application

  1. Upload your photograph (size within 100kb, *.jpg format).
  2. Provide Income Tax Return details (if applicable).
  3. Fill in income and asset details for yourself and family members (including income from various sources and details of owned land, flats, or plots).
  4. Select and upload necessary documents.
  5. Click the “Submit” button to complete your application. Download the autogenerated application form and acknowledgment.
