Sensitization Meeting on Semester System and OMR Sheets
A meeting was held to discuss the upcoming implementation of a semester system in educational institutions. A key focus of the meeting was the use of OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheets for examinations.
Purpose of OMR
The primary goal of the meeting was to inform heads of institutions about the new examination methods and to ensure they are prepared for the transition to OMR sheets starting with Semester I examinations.
Council Announcement
The council announced the release of a sample OMR sheet. This sample is intended to serve as a reference for Semester III examinations scheduled for September 2025.
Guidelines for Institutions and Students
Heads of Institutions:
- Review the sample OMR sheet and accompanying instructions.
- Familiarize students with the OMR sheet from the beginning of Semester I examinations.
Students:
- Practice using OMR sheets during Semester I examinations. This preparation will be beneficial for future examinations, including Semester III in September 2025.
Implementation Timeline
- September 2024: Semester I examinations using OMR sheets.
- September 2025: Semester III examinations using OMR sheets.

OMR Fill up Process For Semester Exam In Class 11 & 12
1. Candidate must use Blue/Black ballpoint pen only to fill the OMR Answer Sheet.
2. Complete all the entries from 1 to 6 and 9 given on the OMR Answer Sheet very carefully (Registration No., Roll No. Question Booklet Serial No., Question Booklet Set, Subject Code, Subject and Full Signature). Failing which the OMR Answer Sheet will not be evaluated and sole responsibility goes to the candidate
3. Darken the bubble(s) / circle(s) completely very carefully. Ink should not spread out of the bubble / circle. Any change / cutting / overwriting/ erasing is not permitted.
4. For answering each question only one bubble / circle should be darkened completely and correctly as given in the example. For example: If option (B) is correct answer for a question then darken the bubble / circle as:-
5. 1 mark will be awarded for correct answer of each question and for wrong answer there will be no negative marking.
6. Rough work must be done only on the specified space of the Question Booklet
7. Do not fold or mutilate the OMR Answer Sheet any way.
8. Do not put any stray marks anywhere on the OMR Answer Sheet
9. Candidate must hand over the OMR Answer Sheet to the Invigilator before leaving the examination hall. Candidate can carry only the Question Booklet with him/her
10. Failure to adhere to any instructions given above will render the OMR Answer Sheet as invalid and it will not be evaluated
11. OMR Answer Sheet is common for all subjects. Students should start answering the questions by filling up the OMR starting from Question No. 1 till the number of questions available for answering and leave the remaining serial numbers blank / untouched
12. Candidate must write the full subject name in the Box no. 9 of the OMR Answer Sheet. Candidate has to answer according to his/her particular subject opted
